Procrastinating from drawing by drawing other things.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with more knowledge on the matter than me as to whether drawings such as this, which draw from Buddhist and Hindu inspiration are considered as a negative cultural appropriation? I am as white as a boy can get and have always looked at and appreciated these kind of depictions for there visual beauty, without really considering the religious, cultural or symbolic meaning.
I ask this after the recent attention to the appropriation of the bindi and mehndi, which I myself have worn while travelling in India. However these were placed and drawn on me by locals who I was working with or meeting, seemingly happily. Is this still seen as poor taste or am I over thinking things?
